Koha 3.8.6 Released

The Koha release team are proud to announce the release of Koha 3.8.6.

This release contains security fixes for XSS vulnerabilities. Everyone running 3.8.x is encouraged to upgrade.

Koha 3.6.10 Released

The Koha release team are proud to announce the release of Koha 3.6.10.

This is a maintenance and security release and contains a lot of useful bug fixes, as well as fixing several serious security vulnerabilities. Everyone running an earlier version of Koha 3.6 is strongly encouraged to update to 3.6.10.

Koha 3.10 String Freeze

In preparation for the release of 3.10, Release Manager Paul Poulain has declared a string freeze.

Koha Statistics

Chris Cormack, Koha Community statistics wizard, has posted statistics for
Koha 3.6.9, Koha 3.6.10, Koha 3.8.5, and Koha 3.8.6.

Community Gossip

Liz Rea has accepted a position with CatalystIT and will be moving with her husband Thatcher and son Soren to New Zealand. As a result, Northeast Kansas Library System is seeking to hire a systems administrator.

Henri-Damien Laurent will be leaving BibLibre at the end of the year.

Paul Poulain is exploring organizing a hackfest in Marseilles in 2013, perhaps in March.

Magnus Enger reports that the Hylte Public Library has become Sweden’s first public library to implement Koha.

Nicole Engard gave a presentation on open source trends and issues at the Internet Librarian 2012 conference.

Elliott Davis posted an overview of match points used in importing MARC records.

Elliott also posted an account of his effort to rewrite the Koha calendar.

Ryan Terrenal of the National Library of the Philippines reports: “We are still in the building stage of the Koha community in the Philippines. We have installed 297 computers with Koha 2.29 running on Fedora Linux. We are promoting it to anyone interested in using the Koha ILS. Our long term goal is to make Koha ILS the standard library system here in the Philippines. We are hoping that we can work together for this project. We also have Kultura Link running on Koha Version 3.41.”

BibLibre has contributed a new module called opac to the open-source drupal project.

BibLibre has posted an overview of their efforts to rebase their development for inclusion in the community master.

Irma Birchall reports that the second Melbourne Koha Users Group Meeting will be held on Thursday, 15 November, 1730-1930, followed by dinner.

Oslo Get to Know Koha Day

Magnus Enger reports that Libriotech is doing a “Get to know Koha” day in Oslo on 7 November. There is room for 20 attendees, and so far both small and large academic as well as public libraries have signed up. The programme is here.
