Thanks to Caroline and David for closing around 60 bugs that were still in “Needs Documenting” but were clearly bug fixes and required no update to the manual!

Koha is powering an important progress in the Linked Open Data world

Thanks to its openness and authority records, Koha allows to expose valuable metadata – especially those related to personal names, i. e. authors. Since Wikidata allows to add properties for external identifiers, Koha catalogs are linked to Wikidata and consequently they are linked each other. Moreover, they are also linked to other important catalogs, like Library of Congress, VIAF, ISNI, and many national libraries. Advantages are:

Detection of conflations to be solved and merges to be applied
Reuse of data – even on the fly – for OPAC enrichment
Valuable information for cataloguing purposes

Thus improving authority control (a core operational requirement of the International Cataloguing Principles (ICP)) as never before. Up to now, there are more than 50 Koha catalogs, each with its own property in Wikidata. The list is available through this SPARQL query:

This is a friendly reminder that registration for KohaCon26 in Karlsruhe is open, and the deadline for in-person participation is approaching.

For those joining remotely, registration remains optional but is strongly recommended. Registered participants will receive important updates, including information about the live stream, conference announcements, and other practical details.

We are excited about the mix of presentations, discussions, and collaborative Working Together Days sessions. As always, the community-driven format offers many opportunities to exchange ideas, share experiences, and contribute to the future of Koha.
