About Koha
Koha is the first free and open source software library automation package. Development is sponsored by libraries of varying types and sizes, volunteers, and support companies from around the world.
About this site
Due to long standing concerns in regards to the management of the koha.org domain, the Koha community decided to establish this website on 2 February 2010 to allow community members to provide information about Koha to users and developers in a timely and collaborative fashion.
The koha-community.org domain is held by the Horowhenua Library Trust, the progenitors of Koha.

collaboration between all members of the Koha Community.
If you would like to contribute to the website, you can register for an account here. Currently, email notifications for new accounts are having a little trouble getting through spam filters. If your email never arrives, please email lrea@nekls.org and we’ll get your account set up.
New accounts are limited to Contributor status (can edit existing posts/pages). Create access will be granted upon request.
Note: You do not need an account to comment. Just a name and an e-mail address (which we will never share with anybody, ever).

Thank you Galen and Horowhenua Library Trust for creating a home for the Koha community.

This is a great move that I’m sure will be best for the community. Good job all.
During the 2 March 2010 IRC meeting, the Koha community decided to make koha-community.org the new home of the Koha project. This move is made with regret and out of necessity. We believe that the koha.org is properly the community property of the Koha project, and continue to encourage its return to the mainstream Koha community.
the french website now points to koha-community.org
The Facebook, LinkedIn and Ohloh pages also point to the new official site (as do all of my personal sites and my upcoming book)
Thank you all. This is a great move to re-inject new momentums toward trusting in Koha and in its future OSS community support.
I would like to install Koha in my Library for doing automation. I want to know how to install it and how much cost is involved.
I have not been able to get the support help I need to address a fatal error message when I’m trying to enter a catalogue record — my question just get sent into cyberspace never to be heard from again. What’s a non-techie to do?
Leslie,
As a first step, try sending a description of your problem to the Koha mailing list. I don’t see any message from you in the mailing list archives, but I may have missed it.
I’m falling in love with koha, no doubt. It misses nothing! but does it work on WindowsXP? or windows 7?
Regards.

Francisco: That depends on what you mean; server side really works much better on Linux than Windows. The staff interface and OPAC work well on any operating system that has a sufficiently modern web browser.
Can anyone from the community guide me in installing koha on mandriva OS.
Is there a way we can promote the koha-community.org site so that it appears first on a google search of koha? At the moment koha.org is the first two hits listed. In actual fact, I only just became aware of this schism when the Koha.org site listed news that PTFS acquired liblime. This led me down a path to search about the whole thing. I installed koha at our college from the sources hosted at Koha.org. Does this mean that source (the “community version” on their website) has diverged significantly from the official community source? If so, how can move my current 3.00.06 version to the official version?
Mathieu,
As far as I know the version of 3.0.6 on their site (if you installed that, not harley) is the same version at download.koha-community.org, they have just made a local copy for whatever reason.
As to moving it up the rankings, theres a whole industry devoted to trying to figure out how to do that
SEO is big money, but in our case I think the best way to do it is for people link and talk about the koha-community site whenever they have the opportunity.
Hi
