  • This system preference controls whether or not changes to the patron's card number are logged separately from other changes to the patron's details.

  • When enabled, a new line will be created in the logs with the action 'Modify cardnumber' every time a patron's card number is updated.

Tip

When a patron card is found, staff will first use the patron search to identify the card's owner. If no results are found, one explanation is that the card number has been superseded. When CardnumberLog is enabled, you can use the Log viewer tool to easily find the patron: tick Action 'Modify cardnumber' and enter the card's number in the Info field.

  • The BorrowersLog preference also logs changes to the patron's card number. When both BorrowersLog and CardnumberLog are enabled and a card number is changed, two lines will be created in the logs: one with action 'Modify' and one with 'Modify cardnumber'.

  • CardnumberLog can be used without BorrowersLog being enabled.
